Grant Shepherd has been named as the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s WA president, taking over from Richard Pappas.

The Hesperia residential director has today been named as the peak body’s new president, following a two-year stint as UDIA WA vice president.

He has worked in the property industry for close to two decades, working at ASX-listed land developer Stockland ahead of Hesperia.

Mr Shepherd has been actively involved with the UDIA and the Property Council of Australia for the past nine years, with roles on various committees within those organisations.

Speaking to Business News, Mr Shepherd said he wanted to take on the role as UDIA’s state president as a way to contribute to the broader industry.

“I’ve always wanted to be part of contributing to the broader industry and advocating for improvement and progress, so the industry as a whole can progress rather than just the business I’m in,” he said.
