Property groups say Premier Mark McGowan’s decision to delay Western Australia’s border reopening has added more pressure to increasingly tight development pipeline, as unemployment levels continue to drop.

The Premier last night reneged on his plan to re-open the borders on February 5, saying it would be “irresponsible” and “reckless” for the state government to ignore the increased threat posed by the Omicron variant.

He did not set an alternative re-opening date, but said he would provide more exemptions for travellers on compassionate grounds and for workers in some industries.
