ABN Group head Dale Alcock has slammed the federal government’s IR reforms, calling the changes “a load of s**t” while predicting the construction industry’s woes will remain.

Federal Industrial Relations Minister Tony Burke’s second tranche of the Closing Loopholes legislation today passed the Senate, which will allow millions of employees to ignore work communications after hours and giving casual staff an easier progression towards full-time work.

Speaking at an Urban Development Institute of Australia WA event, Mr Alcock pretended to make a call to an employee in Victoria in reference to the legislation allowing workers the right to ignore after hours calls from their employers.
