Rockingham Youth Centre has been crowned a winner at the recent Urban Development Institute of Australia awards for 2023.

The gala event held earlier this month recognised some of the very best developments across WA.

The centre was awarded best social and community infrastructure ahead of other nominees Aduro Park in Eglinton, and Vivente and Frankland Park Sport and Community Facility both in Hammond Park.

Rockingham Youth Centre opened in March 2021 to provide a safe and inclusive space for young people aged 12 to 24 to drop in.

Lotterywest contributed $985,000 to the $2.1 million project, which enabled the City of Rockingham to refurbish an existing commercial property on McKinnon Street.
