Despite a crisis of confidence in the building sector, the house-and-land package dream is being revived, with Perth recording its largest number of land sales in more than three years.

The rise follows a period of poor sales, as buyers shied away from the troubled industry amid a raft of company collapses and tardy build times.

Figures from the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) show 2440 lots sold in the December 2023 quarter, almost double the 1273 sold in the same period a year ago.
