WA’s top eight builders and land developers have met with the State Government to demand an extension to the building grants program, calling for the deadline to be pushed back by six months.
The Housing Industry Association and the Urban Development Institute want grants made available to those who start construction within six months of a title being issued, allowing works to start as late as December 31 next year.
It comes as people wanting to build homes before grants worth up to $45,000 run out reveal that some builders are already telling them it is too late to sign up.
