Henning Larsen is a household name in Scandinavian architecture.

The Copenhagen design firm, bearing the name of its late founder, is a leader in mass timber design.

It has designed buildings using wood materials for several years, with its first large-scale timber project the World of Volvo in Sweden.

Conceived in 2018 and opened in April last year, the car manufacturer’s exhibition space was designed around the Swedish concept of Allemansrätten, or the human right to experience nature.

Among Henning Larsen’s latest projects, in collaboration with several other architects, is an entire city made from timber.

Dubbed the largest mass timber project in the world, Stockholm Wood City spans more than 250,000 square metres and will include 7,000 office spaces and 2,000 homes.
