The Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA WA) is proud to announce that Echelon Residences by Giorgi has won a National UDIA Award for Excellence in the Medium Density category.

The iconic South Perth project provides an attractive entry statement to South Perth as the area continues to transform into a more vibrant precinct just minutes from the Perth CBD.

The national awards recognise the best of the best across Australia, with Echelon winning in a competitive category against other world class developments in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Each year, the UDIA National Awards recognise the very best development projects across the country, with nominees made up of the winning projects from each respective state’s award program.

“Echelon is the epitome of style and elegance, providing a landmark building at the entry to South Perth,” UDIA WA CEO Tanya Steinbeck said.

“The Echelon team should be very proud of this project, their hard work and dedication to delivering a quality product that features a range of new and innovative building and construction methods has most certainly paid off,” Ms Steinbeck said.

“Success has not only been proven by the local market acceptance, but now in terms of national recognition.”

The landmark building provides 12 luxury residences, office space and a ground floor restaurant and also showcases innovative construction methods.

Each level of the residential building contains two apartments which are mirrored in plan, with the two penthouses being afforded 4.4m high ceilings to the living and dining.

The form of the building is predominantly a glass box that sits on a metallic plinth. Over the glass box sits a geometric concrete ‘exoskeleton’ that instantly creates the artistic form that is so striking and holds the form together.

Around the double street frontage, the footpath awning has been created by a local artist to depict movement and interest, especially at night when it is backlit.

“Quality medium and high-density development is critical to ensuring that Perth residents have a range of housing options to suit different needs into the future,” Ms Steinbeck said.

“A development such as Echelon has proven to be very popular with those looking for a cosmopolitan lifestyle with all the amenities and services that come with it,” Ms Steinbeck said.

“Congratulations to Giorgi and the Echelon team for being recognised by such a prestigious national award,” Ms Steinbeck said.

Ends.
