AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL REVIEW

The Urban Development Institute of Australia has elected new national president Darren Cooper, pictured, to replace the outgoing Michael Corcoran.

The UDIA, which has more than 2000 member companies, has championed issues of housing affordability, supply and infrastructure policy as a new focus for the federal government.

Mr Cooper has more than 30 years of experience in the development industry and currently serves on a variety of boards in the development industry, not-for profit organisations and private companies.

He is a strategic adviser to national developer AMEX Corporation and is a life member of UDIA WA.

“Our industry delivers 10 per cent of Australia’s GDP and employs 10 per cent of Australia’s workforce,” Mr Cooper said.

“UDIA is here to ensure that our industry’s voice is heard given this massive contribution.” Mr Corcoran said.

“After two years as UDIA national president, I’m delighted to pass the baton to Darren Cooper who I regard as one of the most experienced and capable leaders in the Australian development industry.”
