Western Australia’s leading urban development projects, organisations and industry professionals have been recognised at the 2026 UDIA WA Awards for Excellence, celebrating achievements spanning new communities, urban renewal, community facilities, design, leadership and local government.
The industry’s highest honour, the Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence, was presented to West Residences by Willing. The Russel Perry Award is bestowed on the ‘best of the best’ across all winners at the Awards for Excellence.
The Mount Lawley development was recognised for overcoming significant site and planning constraints to deliver a unique apartment building that provides a highly refined living experience for residents and complements the surrounding community.
“West Residences is a fantastic example of urban infill done well,” UDIA WA CEO Tanya Steinbeck said.
“These types of projects showcase to the local community how increased density can complement the existing neighbourhood and enhance housing choice for locals and those seeking to move into such a well-loved area.”

West Residences also won the Apartments (Mid-Rise) category.
Continuing to highlight the industry’s dedication to high-quality infill development, Oasis Mount Pleasant by DevelopWise won the Design category for its curved architecture, sculptural lightwell, rooftop amenity and carefully considered apartments.
Inspired by the nearby Swan River, the project was praised by the judging panel for creating a distinctive building that responds comfortably to its Mount Pleasant setting.
The refined quality on offer in Perth’s apartment market was also recognised with Rivière Residences by Edge Visionary Living winning the Apartments (High-Rise) category.
Comprising three architecturally sculpted towers, the project was recognised for its scale, quality, resident amenities and activation of the ground level through public facilities including a library and hospitality venues.
Kingsway Townhouses by Forge Developments won the Boutique Development category for delivering three generously sized premium townhomes on a landmark corner site in Nedlands. The project’s refined architecture, versatile floorplans, high-quality finishes and long-term liveability impressed the judging panel.
The Medium Density category winner was yet another infill project, Cygnus Parade by Linic Group. Delivering 28 townhomes, apartments and lofts on a compact site, the project provides housing choices for downsizers, first-home buyers and multigenerational families while responding sensitively to its suburban, river and wetland setting.
An infill project a little further afield, Atwater Rockingham by Cedar Woods won the Residential Subdivision category for transforming the former Palm Beach Caravan Park into a new residential community.
The project retained 41 mature trees, created a considered interface with Lake Richmond Reserve and balanced housing diversity, including townhomes, with environmental stewardship and neighbourhood character.
The Masterplanned Communities category was won by a well-established and popular community, Sienna Wood by Stockland and DevelopmentWA.
The much-loved project is located in the suburbs of Hilbert and Haynes, with an impressive 39 per cent of the development dedicated to parks, conservation and recreation areas that benefit the community.
Notable features include affordable, social and shared-equity housing, a $60 million town centre and Operation Greenprint, a pilot program to increase street tree retention and enhance shade cover in the neighbourhoods.
Halcyon Wildflower by Stockland won in the Seniors Living category.
Halcyon is the second land lease community to win this category in the last two years, combining accessible homes with resort-style facilities and an all-electric design incorporating 7-star NatHERS ratings, solar systems as standard and timber-frame homes.
The Affordable Housing category was won by The HMO Coliving Model at Jacqueline Street, Bayswater by The HMO Property Co.
Co Living models are an emerging housing model in Western Australia, with the Jaqueline Street project combining private bedrooms and ensuites with generous communal living spaces.
The HMO Coliving Model is a professionally managed model that is a proven and scalable response to housing affordability that addresses residents’ financial, social and lifestyle needs.
Moving to wider community benefit, the now iconic Perth City Link by DevelopmentWA won the Urban Renewal category for reconnecting the Perth CBD and Northbridge after more than a century of separation.
The 13.5-hectare mixed-use precinct integrates housing, student accommodation, employment, entertainment, transport, education and public infrastructure, including Yagan Square and the ECU City Campus.
DevelopmentWA was also recognised in the Sustainability category for 1909 Subi East, with the project demonstrating an unwavering commitment to lifecycle sustainability.
The project embeds sustainability into every stage, from the demolition of the former Princess Margaret Hospital which achieved an exceptional 99.58% material reuse and recycling rate, through to precinct design, delivery and long-term operation.
The Social and Community Infrastructure category went to the Town of Victoria Park for the beautiful Elizabeth Baillie Redevelopment Project that has transformed a long-vacant site into a thriving community and commercial destination.
The Marketing category was presented to Ocean Grand by Blackburne for its targeted campaign that attracted a high level of interest from the local community.
Two projects received Judges Awards, that are bestowed on unique and/ or innovative projects that the judges consider worthy of recognition.
Yugo Perth University Campus by Exal Group was recognised for transforming an underutilised suburban area into an extension of the Greater Curtin Precinct and delivering up to 916 student beds across two stages.
Kenwick Specialist Disability Accommodation by Foundation Housing Limited also received a Judges Award. Developed for residents with high and complex support needs, the purpose-built homes provide private bedrooms, fully equipped ensuites and communal spaces designed to support independence, dignity and connection.
Individual and organisational excellence was also recognised on the night, with Riley Brown from the City of Cockburn receiving the UDIA WA and Stockland Young Leaders Award for his leadership, collaborative approach to statutory planning and commitment to mentoring emerging planners.
Louise Nazareth from Stockland received the UDIA WA and Construction Training Fund Women in Leadership Award for her career achievements, leadership at Stockland, advocacy for gender equity and ongoing contribution to UDIA WA.
Okeland Communities was named Team of the Year, recognising its family-led approach, collaborative culture and contribution to unlocking more than 70,000 homes across Australia.
The organisation has an average staff tenure of more than 15 years and consultant and stakeholder relationships extending beyond 40 years.
The City of Wanneroo received the Local Government Authority of the Year Award for leadership in housing delivery, planning and industry collaboration.
The City processed 6,651 lots across 2024 and 2025, representing more than 20 per cent of Western Australia’s total, while maintaining the State’s largest pipeline of conditionally approved lots.
“The 2026 winners demonstrate the breadth of expertise contributing to Western Australia’s built environment, from major city-shaping precincts and diverse housing choices to outstanding leadership, collaboration and community-focused development,” Ms Steinbeck said.
“Despite challenging market conditions impacted by the ongoing housing supply crisis, global uncertainty, skilled labour shortages and escalating costs, just to name a few of the challenges, the WA property industry continues to deliver to the absolute highest standard,” Ms Steinbeck said.
