WA’s returning sons and daughters are helping to stabilise Perth’s housing market, with the flood of people returning to the safety of WA helping to quell fears of a property plunge.

A survey by the Urban Development Institute of Australia shows most locals (57 per cent) expect house prices to increase in the next 18 months, while a similar number of owner occupiers feel positive about the market in general.

The July survey of 500 people shows about half (48 per cent) feel positive about buying a property now.
