Leading experts in Perth’s property development sector have raised concerns that despite a dire need for housing, only a small portion of developments before a key planning body are for residential developments.

The Joint Development Assessment Panel is typically the decision-maker for projects more than $2 million.

But an analysis of the future workload applications at the start of last month show 46 out of 50 of the applications before the panel were for non-residential developments.
